Keratin-Based Nanoparticles as Drug Delivery Carriers

چکیده

Keratin is a structural protein of mammalian tissues and birds, representing the principal constituent hair, nails, skin, wool, hooves, horns, beaks, feathers, playing an essential role in protecting body from external harassment. Due to its intrinsic features such as biocompatibility, biodegradability, responsiveness specific biological environment, physical–chemical properties, keratin has been extensively explored production nanocarriers active principles for different biomedical applications. In present review paper, we aimed give literature overview keratin-based nanoparticles produced starting human chicken feathers. Along with chemical description nanoparticles, selected vitro vivo data are also discussed provide more comprehensive framework possible fields application this protein. Despite considerable number papers describing use carries anticancer antimicrobial drugs or hemostatic wound healing materials, still, efforts needed implement towards their clinical application.
